National Party MP Waimakariri
Matt Doocey has been the National Party MP for Waimakariri since 2014. He is the Spokesperson for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention, for Youth and is the Associate Spokesperson for Heath and Transport.
Matt has had a long career in mental health and healthcare management, both in the UK and here in New Zealand, focusing on the delivery of community health, mental health and social care services both in voluntary and Government settings. With this experience Matt takes a community-led approach to his portfolios, believing that communities play a big part in the prioritising the treatment that community members need.
Should National be privileged enough to become the Government in 2023 Matt intends to be the first Minister for Mental Health in New Zealand, making that his focus and priority.
